make 'em laugh by debbie reynolds
Make 'Em Laugh is a series of Debbie Reynolds' anecdotes and musings from her career throughout Hollywood and beyond. While an autobiography, in this book, Reynolds mainly focuses on her memories with other friends and talents in the industry, so it is somewhat less personal, and more a light series of memories.
Stories involving incredible names such as Elizabeth Taylor, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Ava Gardener, just to name a few, fill up this biography - making for an enchanting read. The way that Reynolds tells these stories with a relaxed sense of humour and wit, made me feel like I almost knew her.
In Carrie Fisher's foreword, she mentions her biggest lesson from her mother; "Life is fucking hilarious - especially when it's not - because that's the only time it truly has to be."
So pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back, and enjoy!
