This is one of the more Westernized guides to mindfulness that I have read, and a very practical take on the Buddhist philosophy. Without making too many references to the religion, Doyle discusses techniques for meditation, focus and appreciation of the present moment.
I really recommend this read as an introductory guide to mindfulness. For those who have already practiced mindfulness/meditation for a few years, it merely serves as a good reminder.
Doyle has written a pleasant, quick read with some useful techniques to take into consideration, and the book is quite literally as the title states, a "plain & simple" guide to mindfulness.
