I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately can't say I loved it. While it was exciting being taken into the home of the Dalai Lama (note: this book is fictional), I found a disconnect between the humour of the thoughts of a cat and the important Buddhist wisdom.
I think my main difficulty was reading from the perspective of a cat. While in Emma Donoghue's Room, reading as a 5 year old boy worked, I don't think this did so well. It was a sweet book, and I enjoyed the valuable lessons, but it was the parts in between that lost me.
In saying this, I have heard of many people who loved the book, and this is a very subjective review. It is a simple read with some great lessons, and definitely worth a try.
