The Novel in the Viola follows the character Elise Landau as she has to leave her home in Vienna during the beginning of WWII. Elise finds a job as a maid in England at place called The House at Tyneford (the book was also published under this name). With the discontentment from the war and being away from her family, Elise goes through the struggles of fitting in to her new lifestyle, while meeting new people and starting new romances.
The words I would use to describe this book are pleasant, quaint and sweet...but with enough of an edge so you won't be able to put it down. This was a very enjoyable read, and it makes for a perfect vacation read or a cosy night in.
