There is nothing like reading a really really good book that you didn't know anything about, and thus didn't expect anything from. This was the case with Truth in Advertising by John Kenney.
Complex, comedic and heartwarming, the novel follows Finbar Dolan, narrating a difficult moment in his life, fighting over decisions on his career in advertising while managing a web of family matters.
This book gave me everything I needed. The fast-paced wit of the main character and his colleagues made me laugh out loud. Fin's sudden shifts in his train of thought and imaginary scenarios kept me on my toes. And the lessons taken from his complicated family life kept me emotionally involved in his story.
I didn't want this book to end, as I could have kept reading so much more about Fin's world. I really hope someone turns this into a movie, because it would be brilliant.
This book was such a great surprise!
